Croque Monsieur
Two-part recipe: • bechamel sauce - 7 minutes • croque monsieur - 25+15 minutes Preheat the oven to 240°C
Bechamel Sauce • 25cl milk • 20g butter • 2 CS flour • salt • pepper In a sauce pan on medium heat, boil the milk then set it aside. In the sam pan, melt the butter then add the flour. Stir well until the mixture is smooth (this happens very quickly). Still on medium heat, add the milk and keep stirring until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper. Croque Monsieur makes 4 sandwiches • 8 slices of white bread • lots of grated emmenthal • butter • 4 bread-sized slices of ham For 4 slices of bread, add in order: 1. a little butter 2. ┌ bechamel 3. └ grated cheese 4. ham 5. ┌ bechamel 6. └ grated cheese 7. bread (close the sandwich) 8. ┌ bechamel 9. └ grated cheese Use only very small amounts of bechamel/grated cheese for each layer Place the 4 sandwiches in the oven, covered with aluminum foil. Remove the foil after 10 minutes to lightly roast the cheese. Cook 15-20 minutes total Eat with green salad.
